Markdown Monster

Assuming the "Markdown" part in this application’s name doesn’t mean a thing to you, then let me make things perfectly clear: Markdown Monster is a markdown editor meant to be used by programmers, web developers, and anyone else who wants to create content for websites or blogs. So if you have a website and you want to create and publish articles on that website, Markdown Monster will make your life a whole of a lot easier.

You see, Markdown Monster is a powerful and feature-rich tool that has a lot to offer: syntax highlighting, inline spell checking, image and link embedding, take screenshots and embed them, live HTML preview and browser preview, editor and rendering themes, word count, post directly to weblog, and more. And let’s not forget that Markdown Monster is extensible with .NET ad-ins.

Markdown Monster is available as an installer and as a portable version. Support is provided for Windows 10, Windows 8.1 or 8, Windows 7, and any Windows Server edition from Windows 2008 R2 up to 2016. Please note that Markdown Monster require Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 or newer to run.

The interface is just what you would expect from an application of this type. It’s is a dual-pane interface, with one panel displaying the text you’re working on and the other offering a preview of how that text will look like when you post it online. Go the View menu or click the buttons in the upper right hand corner to toggle the HTML preview pane, the presentation mode, and the distraction free edit mode. Use the dropdown menus in the lower right hand side to pick a different editor theme or a different rendering theme.

Although Markdown Monster’s source code is available on GitHub, Markdown Monster isn’t open source software. This markdown editor is licensed and requires registration for continued use. Don’t worry, you’re not missing out on any features by not registering, but you will get the occasional nag screen. Seeing that the license is reasonably priced, you really should get a license if you’re planning on using Markdown Monster regularly.
